If you go into The Washington Arms in my home village you'll see the town coat of arms on the wall. I've heard a few different explanations of what the stars and stripes represent, and solid information online is quite thin. But now accepted as the basis for the star spangled banner. Inspired by the historic richness of my native town's roots, I've given the old crest a nod towards the 21st century.
